The 4th Australian Robotics Challenge 2017 is an international event hosted by Griffith University and supported by Griffith Innovate open to junior and highschool students. The robotics challenge covers a range of fields from creative design, autonomous vehicles to solving real world problems with innovative technologies. Each year, local and international students come together for challenging themselves in solving problems and presenting their research in a symposium and published for the proceedings.

Brisbane saw an awesome night last Friday; inviting teams from all over Queensland to present the State GovHack Awards. Earlier this year, the founding members of Griffith Innovate came together to develop Touralytics. The evening was filled with excited participants sharing their experiences from GovHack with each other and discussing future plans to grow their initial concepts into commercially stable products. Touralytics took away the Best Queensland-Oriented Business Related Application Award along with an Honourable Mention for the Category of Data Show Off.
In robot related news, a visiting professor is giving a seminar on the topic of designing control systems for robots that is open for everyone to attend. Professor Cezary Zielinski of Warsaw University of Technology will be giving his talk entitled "A Systemmatic Method of Designing Robot Control Systems". This talk was given at Nathan Campus last week, but was so popular it has been repeated for us on the Gold Coast.
